Athletic Training

An integral part of Mustang’s athletic program is Athletic Trainer Chris Basco. Basco has been with the district for five years. Basco is an allied health care professional who specializes in the prevention, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses in the district’s student athletes.

Basco earned a bachelor’s degree at Ft. Hays State University and a master’s at Northwestern State University. Basco served as head athletic trainer for an indoor professional football team, minor league baseball team, and a Division III college/university. Since August 2004 Basco has provided medical coverage for all athletes in the Mustang Public School district.

Basco also offers a course on care and prevention of athletic injuries to the district's coaches and coaches in surrounding districts. The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) and the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) require that all athletic coaches complete a course of this kind. Anyone interested can email Basco at bascot@mustangps.org for more information.
